APPLE Splits the 5th Time And It's my 2nd Split APPL Stock
APPLE (NASDAQ:APPL) announced its 5th time to split the stock. All the doom and gloom the economy is promising to bring, tech stocks are just bursting at its seams. APPL doing the stock split may not be relevant currently. That got me thinking about the stock split over the years and had to check back if I happened to be part of any stock split.
As it turns out I did have a stock split in 2014. It was a 7 for 1 stock split. For every 1 APPL stock you own, it splits into 7 APPL stocks. When I check back my APPL purchase history, it looks like this:
As i mentioned in my earlier post on why I bought APPL, I forgot about the stock split. Apparently, I had bought in 2011 at USD 390 per share. By the time it was 2014, the stock was at USD 700 per share and it split 7 for 1 and it was at USD 90 per share after the stock split.
I didn't review my APPL until 2017 when i remembered the iPhones were hitting record sales target. I shouldn't have bought in the month of December. That month is usually a bull run because of the Christmas feels. At that time, I bought it to adjust the number of shares to make it an even number.
A year later in November and December 2018, I bought at USD 192 per share and when it drop in December, I continue to purchase at USD 148 per share.
On hindsight, it is always better to avoid buying stocks during November all the way to Christmas, people have a tendency to drive the price up.
Moving forward to 2020, APPL still continues to perform well. I'm skeptical about AirPods and most people are starting to use Huawei as their phones. I'm unsure how will APPL sustain their business unless they really introduce a game changer. Until then, I would still keep and buy when it dips. Special attention will be in September this year. We will see how it will trade after the stock splits.
